Http/html - web development video

#1

Hello clojurists,

I finished the video about the web development and I notice the hardest part for me was to understand how http/html works. I very few experience with the web stack. Do you know some good materials on the web were I can learn about html forms, http methods, etc.?

I reply to myself, “Sending form data” gives a good overview - https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Guide/HTML/Forms/Sending_and_retrieving_form_data

If you have other good links I’ll be happy to read it

Hi @Lud,

That’s a great question. Unfortunately, it’s a big one.

This one is a good one on Methods: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypertext_Transfer_Protocol#Request_methods

Forms: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Guide/HTML/Forms/How_to_structure_an_HTML_form

Query strings: https://perishablepress.com/how-to-write-valid-url-query-string-parameters/

Response codes: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Response_codes

Http Headers: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers (In fact, check out all the links on the left)

Those should keep you busy for a while. This is honestly a really good question. When I was making the course I had to decide how much of the HTTP protocol I should teach. I had to draw the line somewhere.

Rock on!
Eric

The various web browser produces tend to have some good docs - Mozilla and Opera are pretty good. Also w3 schools can be useful http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp
